The Western Region Audiovisual Producers Fund (WRAP Fund) has become the 48th member of CineRegio, the European body representing Europe’s regional film funds.
The WRAP Fund along with the Lower Austrian Film Fund (AU) and Canary Islands Film (ES) became an official member of CineRegio at the General Assembly, held on Monday 20th May during the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. Their membership takes the total number of funds to 48, representing 200 million euro per annum. CineRegio has three main objectives:
- To exchange views, perspectives, good practices and information for the benefit of the European film industry, including integrating new regional film funds.
- To raise awareness, represent and promote regional audiovisual interests across Europe, including members’ interests towards European institutions and other organisations which play a role in determining the set of rules and conditions for regional film funds.
- To strengthen the co-development and co-production of audiovisual products, fusing talents and resources in different regions for a wider market – including stimulating artistic, technical and creative exchange and know-how throughout Europe.
The WRAP Fund is an initiative of the Western Development Commission and Galway Film Centre in association with the local authorities of Clare, Donegal, Galway City, Galway County, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Údarás na Gaeltachta.
